Playa Del Rey Bungalow

This Playa del Rey home was thoughtfully reconfigured to better support everyday living and entertaining. The homeowner’s vision centered on opening up the kitchen by relocating walls to create a more spacious and functional layout, expanding the laundry area, and transforming a small hallway space into a fully functional guest room with a proper door and closet. The living room fireplace
was also redesigned with a more modern, streamlined aesthetic.

I worked closely with my structural engineer to develop the architectural plans and manage the city submittal process. Once approved, the project was competitively bid to three contractors to ensure scope clarity and budget alignment. The renovation was completed with an approximate $200,000 construction budget.

Following construction, I continued working with the client on interior decoration. We incorporated her favorite existing mid-century pieces while introducing a few new elements to complement them. The result is an eclectic, casual home that reflects her personal style while feeling cohesive, warm, and timeless.
