Soft Modern bungalow remodel
This Mar Vista home presented a series of spatial challenges, including unusual angles and an inefficient layout that no longer supported the way the homeowners lived. By selectively relocating walls, we were able to clean up the geometry of the space and create a more cohesive, functional flow throughout the home.
A long, narrow hallway had become cluttered with shoes and coats due to a lack of storage. We addressed this by integrating thoughtful built-in solutions that transformed the corridor into an organized and intentional passage rather than a crowded galley.
In the living room, the original furniture and television layout was
compromised by inward-opening French doors. After exploring multiple options, the client trusted my recommendation to flip the living room layout entirely and replace the French doors with folding doors that open outward to the patio dramatically improving both circulation and indoor-outdoor connection.
In addition to the main living areas, we remodeled the primary bathroom and created a dedicated laundry room, further improving the home’s day-to-day functionality. Skylights were added to bring in natural light and previously awkward angles were reworked to create a new pantry. What began as a design challenge became one of the home’s most loved features and the client now calls the pantry her favorite place in the house.
